Thank you to Phil Rosenthal and his team on Netflix's "Somebody Feed Phil" for the recommendation. Turkey and the Wolf was our first stop when we arrived in New Orleans for vacation. The episode highlighted some fantastic sandwiches, and we couldn't wait to try them. We ordered the fried bologna sandwich and the collard green melt sandwich. Being a fan of collard greens and cheese melts, I knew this combination would be outstanding, and it was. The fried bologna sandwich was perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of mustard, mayo, tomato, and "shrettuce" as they call it. We also ordered fries on the side since they don't come with the sandwiches. The ambiance was very laid-back, with a nostalgic '90s vibe. I was especially impressed by the old-school McDonald's plates they used! This place is a MUST when visiting New Orleans, especially if you're in the mood for a great sandwich.

Turkey and the Wolf is fun, vibrant, loud, and obnoxious. If you're looking for something trendy, you're here. I got the classic Fried Bologna Sandwich and a Headcheese Taco. The Taco was very tasty, but if you told me that it was simply stewed marinated pork, and not headcheese, I'd believe it. I think this might have been the point, to put it in a more palatable presentation. I was in an adventurous mood and would have preferred something that was more up front about eating headcheese. The Sandwich lives up to the hype and expectations. It was tall enough that I couldn't wrap my mouth around it after squishing it, and hit all the right places. This is a fairly brief overview, but Turkey and the Wolf is a crowded, fun, lively atmosphere with a great menu and a presentation to match. The 30 year old McDonald's plates are a nice touch.

Turkey and the Wolf is an absolute gem. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its vibrant neighborhood. Let's talk about the food--it's nothing short of sensational. The Collard Green Melt was surprisingly tasty, combining savory collard greens, melted cheese, and perfectly toasted bread. Equally impressive is their Cabbage Salad, a refreshing blend of crisp cabbage, tangy vinaigrette, and surprising accents that elevate it beyond a typical salad. Turkey and the Wolf is an absolute must-visit. Prepare to be delighted by their inventive dishes, charmed by their attentive staff, and ultimately, planning your return visit before you've even left.

A baloney sandwich. This is what I came for. Memories of Wonder bread, a slice of Oscar Meyer boloney, and a little Parkay butter spread at least once a week in my lunchbox. Not my favorite, but it was pretty good at the time. Turkey and the Wolf's take on this classic is really impressive. The bread is nice and thick, the bologna is the good butcher stuff, thickly sliced, and the texture from the chips and shredded lettuce put it over the top. The mustard and mayo add tons of flavor and keep it moist enough for easier esophageal passage. Really, really good. The collard melt, in my opinion, was equally good. With the flavors, textures, saltiness, and thin slices of rye, it's like a reuben without the meat, but with all the flavor. If I were to go back anytime soon, I might just order this one. Drinks are tasty and unique, and the staff is very friendly and efficient.
